Please read Ashley Hoy’s journey to joining Bickling Financial Services

Growing up, I was the oldest of three children, and the only daughter. Perhaps it’s in my blood, but I always found myself in a caretaker role-whether it was helping my mother while my father traveled for work or being the obnoxious big sister who told her siblings what to do. That personality trait only grew stronger as I got older. I graduated college with my bachelor’s in Economics during the Great Recession of 2008. During this time, it was difficult to find a job, and my father was laid off from his job. He also had difficulty finding work and for some time, I helped to support my parents as best I could. I was working in retail at the time and worked long hours to help make ends meet.
After seeing the toll that the retail industry took on my father, I made the decision to try my hand in finance. I wanted to learn about financial planning and see if those tools could benefit my parents. I had always believed that you needed to be wealthy to work with a financial advisor- and as I studied and worked to obtain my financial securities licenses, I realized that I was wrong. Financial Literacy should be taught to all- not matter how much or how little wealth a person has.
I began working as an Associate Financial Advisor with a financial planning firm in 2010. I enjoyed working and developing relationships with our clients. I enjoyed helping those clients to meet their personal financial goals and it was especially meaningful to help support clients as they experienced challenges in life. As time went on, I felt as though I could be doing more. I am a person who always strives to better myself and to challenge myself to grow personally and professionally.
I learned about Bickling Financial Services in 2023 and was inspired by the firm’s history. Founded by Dorothy Bickling in 1984, Dorothy was one of the first 600 people in the nation to obtain her Certified Financial Planner® designation as well as one of the first women to do so. Bickling Financial Services also works with clients seeking a financial plan or wealth management and offers customized solutions based on a person’s needs. Bickling Financial Services not only promotes financial literacy with their clients, but they strongly support employees to constantly learn and grow our own knowledge base to continuously make clients aware of the investment options available to them. Based on the company history and company values, I knew Bickling Financial Services would be the perfect place to develop my personal and professional goals.
I joined Bickling Financial Services in November of 2023. In July of this year, I’ll be graduating with my MBA degree with a finance concentration. In the short time that I have been here, I have seen the impact that our team has on our clients and the support that the team has provided me is invaluable. I am excited to see how my journey with Bickling Financial Services evolves. If you would like to meet me or if you’re interested in how Bickling Financial Services can
