Protecting Your Home During Winter’s Arctic Blast!

Winter is in full force as we all are experiencing this arctic blast! Here are some tips to protect your home that may help prevent frozen and burst pipes risks from becoming a reality:

  • Drain and shut off all outside spigots.
  • Mark your home’s main water supply line so it can be easily identified and shut off in the event of an emergency.
  • Leave the heat up! Set the thermostat and keep it at the same temperature day and night.
  • Have a smart thermostat? We recommend temporarily reprogramming smart thermostats to remain at a constant temperature.
  • Open the kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate around plumbing.
  • If you have an attached garage, keep the doors shut. Cold wind can increase the likelihood of a frozen pipe.
  • Going away? Shut off the water supply line to your washing machine.

We hope these suggestions are helpful to you and your families while protecting your home and property.  Stay safe, keep warm and informed!
